Frequently Asked Questions

How much time do lecturers have to check the exams?
The evaluation of exams have to be done within two weeks after the exam took place and the grades then need to be submitted by the lecturers to Study Services. Study services has to inform the students within three weeks after the exam took place. The results of oral or practical exams need to be communicated to the students at the latest at the end of the day of the exam. If the exam was graded negatively, the reasoning has to be communicated to the student.
Can I get an exemption of the mandatory attendance?
Do I lose one exam attempt if I do not hand in a paper or if I do not show up to an exam?
Who does an examination before a committee look like?
Examination before a committee = 3rd exam attempt = 2nd repetition

These exams are based on the failure of the 2nd attempt of an exam. The grading is done by a committee of at least three people. They are to be done in written and orally.

If the written exam before a committee is graded positively (at least 60% out of 100%), no oral exam will take place. If the written exam before a committee is graded negatively, an oral exam has to take place; both grades, each will then make up 50% of the final grade.

The oral exam has to take place soon after the written exam and will be held before a exam committee. In case the grade of the written exam does not allow for the final grade to be positive (at least 60%), it is not possible to take the oral exam.
Can I repeat a study year?
Can I disrupt my studies?
A disruption of studies is possible. An application has to be submitted to the study programme director. The reasons for the interruption and the intended continuation of the course must be explained. In the decision, compelling personal, health or professional reasons must be explained, which do not allow further studies at a given point in time or which would severely impair them.

Participation in courses, taking exams, and submitting and assessing theses are not possible during the interruption.

"Studieren Probieren"

Through „Studieren Probieren“ prospective students can gain an insight into their desired course of study. They are advised by students and can ask them all questions about studying and living in Krems.

The department coordinates all appointments and generally contacts the cohort representatives with a request to support the prospective student. Of course also other students can be nominated as advisor. There is a small renumeration for every date by the federal students’ union.
